Come and join us this summer as a Marine Science Eco-explorer. You
will join a peer group investigating one of 4 major Marine
Ecosystems. During your summer exploration, you will visit Canaveral
National Seashore exploring the habitat of the Florida Manatee in a
kayak, snorkel down the run at Blue Springs State Park checking out
the fish and wildlife, track down the elusive Florida Scrub-Jay at
Lyonia Preserve, discover Florida's history at Fort Matanzas and
explore the rocky beach at Washington Oaks State Park. During our 5
day camp week from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., campers will be
swimming, kayaking, seine netting, plankton netting, and exploring
the various marine ecosystems in East Central Florida. The camp week
comes to an exciting close with a group BBQ on Friday afternoon for
the camper and their family.
The Marine Research Explorer Camps will offer
the opportunity on one day to sail aboard a deck boat and take
samples in the marine environment. Students will get a chance to see
bottom samplers, to conduct plankton tows and other techniques and
examine the wide variety of organisms that inhabit our marine
environments. They will also explore the habitat of the Florida
Manatee in a kayak, snorkel down the run at Blue Springs State Park,
track down the elusive Florida Scrub-Jay at Lyonia Preserve,
discover Florida's history at Fort Matanzas and explore the rocky
beach at Washington Oaks State Park.
